0 to 1 ecommerce design
A large organization wanted to explore a new revenue stream — for 3rd party merchants to offer deals linked to credit cards.
My tasks
- As the sole product designer, I would collaborate with a small team of product managers and engineers
- Starting with a rudimentary MVP, I rethought and iterated on the consumer experience across web, email, and ATM channels
My actions
- I started from square one to rethink website flows, design detailed UI screens, and collaborate with engineers to get the new experience off the ground
- I developed email and ATM templates to speed up the production of merchant-specific offers
- When the engineering team pushed back on making the site responsive, I worked with them to show how it could be done — winning them over
- I would eventually lead other designers as part of the project
Although our ATM offer experiment was short-lived, my contributions led to a number of successful iterations of the experience across web and email.
More than a decade after my work on this product, it appears to remain a revenue driver for the bank — as evidenced by a prominence on their consumer banking app.
